Troy Roovers, MHA, MBA
As the CEO of Medical Business Services since 2001, Troy brings extensive experience from across the healthcare spectrum, including hospitals, specialty clinics and ambulatory care settings. His career is marked by senior roles where he excelled in healthcare strategy, operations, and revenue cycle management.
Troy holds a BBA magna cum laude from St. Norbert College plus an MHA from the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health and an MBA from the Carlson School of Management. Outside of work, he enjoys live music, culinary adventures with his wife, running, scuba diving and skiing.
Joan Stone, CPA
As the Chief Financial Officer of Medical Business Services since 2002, Joan M. Stone offers over 30 years of expertise in financial and accounting disciplines within the healthcare sector.
Prior to joining MBS, she spent nine years in public accounting and holds an active CPA license in Minnesota. Joan’s extensive background includes practice management, system conversions, healthcare taxation, and risk management. She leads a team dedicated to providing strategic financial insights and support to clients. Outside the office, Joan enjoys outdoor activities, yoga, and contributing to a non-profit service dog organization as a board and finance committee member.
Leah Asplund
As the Chief Operating Officer of Medical Business Services, Leah Asplund leverages a robust background in leadership, spanning administrative, financial, and clinical operations. She has a proven track record in enhancing profitability and revenue growth, drawing on her early career at Ernst & Young and experience in both public and private accounting.
Leah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota. Outside the office, she enjoys time with her husband, two children, and dog, as well as other family and friends.
Eric Mortenson
As the Chief Information Officer at Medical Business Services since 2001, Eric Mortenson brings extensive IT expertise within the medical industry. His experience spans PACS, EMR systems, enterprise phone systems, and radiology solutions.
Eric leads a team skilled in network and systems administration, low voltage cabling, and comprehensive IT support, ensuring robust medical solutions service. Outside of work, he relishes trips to the lake, fishing, and playing golf.
Dené Weatherly
Dené Weatherly is the Vice President of Revenue Cycle at Medical Business Services, where she has been a key member since 1996.
With over two decades of experience in insurance, physician practices, and revenue cycle management, she possesses deep expertise in coding, payer regulations, and performance measures. Dené leads a team dedicated to enhancing medical billing processes, from coding to claims payment, utilizing advanced technology to boost collection rates and reduce billing cycles. Outside of the office, she enjoys watching sports, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Jennifer Bahe
Jennifer Bahe is the Director of Human Resources at Medical Business Services, a role she has held since 2007.
With over 20 years of HR experience across various sectors, she expertly manages a wide range of functions from benefits administration to employee relations. Jennifer holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Minnesota and an MA in Business with a focus on HR from Concordia University. She is also the Education Director on the HHRAM board. Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys crafting, social gatherings, and planning for her retirement.
Allison Risdal
Allison Risdal serves as the Director of Marketing for Medical Business Services, a position she has held since 2014. Her expertise encompasses developing and managing marketing campaigns that effectively promote services and bolster brand awareness.
Allison’s deep understanding of the marketplace, customer needs, and industry dynamics ensures impactful marketing strategies. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and actively participating in her children’s various activities.
Mary Beth silbernagel
Mary Beth Silbernagel serves as the Business Development Executive for Medical Business Services, a position she has held since mid-2023. With nearly two decades of success in the healthcare and wellness markets, she is a sales, marketing, and business development leader known for building thriving businesses by identifying opportunities and driving strategic growth.
Her early career focused on selling healthcare IT to hospitals, laying the foundation for her expertise in solutions to improve efficiency while enhancing the quality of patient care. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, hiking, reading, and exploring breweries by bike.
